Here's a summary of the anime!
*Spoiler Alert!*
Amiboshi is wounded in the battle with Tomo. His twin brother, Suboshi shows up and kills Tomo to save him. Suboshi then attacks Miaka while his brother is passed out. Backed up against the edge of a cliff, and considering jumping, Miaka is saved when Tamahome (who was saved from his injury and fall by his former mentor) appears and stops Suboshi. Suboshi retreats, and Tamahome carries Miaka to safety.
They go to the house of Tamahome's mentor to stay while they look for the Byakko Shinzaho. Tamahome's teacher instructs him that loving Miaka is fruitless and that it will only hurt him in the end. He convinces Tamahome to let go of her now to make it easier on himself in the future. Tamahome kisses Miaka tenderly, then breaks up with her. Heartbroken, Miaka hears of a temple at the top of a hill where legend says if a couple kisses at sunset, they shall never be separated. She tells Tamahome that he should meet her there, or she will give up on him. At the last minute, Tamahome decides that he is already in too deep, and whether now or later, it will still hurt not to have Miaka and goes to meet her at the temple. He arrives late to find her gone.
Miaka had seen the Seiryuu group arrive and had gone to find Yui. Miaka is met by Nakago and Miboshi instead, and Miboshi steals her voice. She is imprisoned with the member of the Byakko seven who holds the shinzaho. Yui shows up and pretends to be Miaka's friend again. Miaka couldn't tell her of Nakago's lies because her voice was taken, but she hugs her, trying to show her how she feels. Miaka convinces the seishi to give her the shinzaho, but Yui takes it, having tricked them into thinking she was friends with Miaka again.
The Suzaku seven and Tamahome's mentor and his wife (who both turn out to be members of the Byakko seven) are kept from following Yui by Miboshi. They end up killing Miboshi, but he possesses Chiriko's body and starts attacking them again. Chiriko finally kills himself in order to protect the others. The group rushes up to the top of the building to stop the ceremony, but find that it is too late. Yui is already summoning Seiryuu. Yui is granted the power for her three wishes.
She uses the first to seal up Suzaku. This makes the Suzaku seven powerless to defend Konan, and when the Kouto army attacks, they have little chance of winning. The suzaku seven decide to fight anyway and Miaka insists on fighting along side them. Yui makes her second wish, which transports her and Miaka back home, separating Miaka from Tamahome forever---or so she thinks.
Tamahome had grabbed onto Miaka and held on tight. He was transported to Miaka's world with her. The two hold an informal marriage ceremony, exchanging rings, then kissing. Yui sees Tamahome and is angered that her wish backfired. She had promised her last wish to Nakago. She talks to Nakago through the earring he had given her and tells her he will be there soon. Suboshi shows up in the real world, and tries to kill Miaka. Tamahome fights him and ends up killing him.
&bsp; Back in the book, Hotohori is killed by Nakago. Miaka talks to him through the book as he dies. Miaka talks to Yui and tells her the truth about Nakago. Nakago shows up and Yui confronts him, wanting the truth. He admits his wrongdoings, but still expects her to grant him his wish because she had promised.
Tamahome shows up and bravely fights Nakago, without his powers. He gets beaten to a pulp, and is thought to be dead. Yui tries to run away, but Nakago traps her and tells her he will kill Miaka if she doesn't do what he wants. Yui ends up wishing that Miaka will be able to summon Suzaku, then, having made her final wish, is devoured by Seiryuu.
