Here's a summary of the anime!
*Spoiler Alert!*
There, they are confronted by two members of the Genbu seven who were sworn to protect the shinzaho. At Miaka's protest, they start to fight. However, when they see it is no use fighting ghosts, Miaka tries talking to them instead. She is put through a test, and displays Suzaku's power on her own, which convinces them to give her the shinzaho. Outside the cave, Ashitare, awakened as pure wolf, steals the shinzaho from Miaka and brings it to Nakago. Miaka runs after him, but soon looses him in the forest. Nakago kills Ashitare after he gives him the shinzaho. The next task is to get the Byakko shinzaho, then they will be able to summon Seiryuu.
In the forest, Miaka meets a fake Taiisukun, who convinces her that the only way to get the shinzaho back is to sleep with Nakago, and take it while he is weakened. Miaka agrees for everyone's sake then tells her companions to go on ahead and she will catch up with them. They follow her request, but Tamahome suspects something is wrong, and turns around to go find Miaka.
Meanwhile, Miaka goes to the Seiryuu camp to find everyone gone, except Nakago, who is waiting for her. Nakago reveals to her that Yui wasn't really raped. He tells her he had saved Yui before that, but led her to believe she had been in order to convince her to become the priestess of Seiryuu. Nakago knocks Miaka unconscious and tries to rape her so that she will be unclean and unable to summon Suzaku, but she is protected by a Suzaku barrier in unconsciousness.
Tamahome shows up to save Miaka and finds her lying there bruised and battered. She and Tamahome are both convinced that she was raped. Miaka is tormented by this and feels unworthy of Tamahome's love. He only shows her kindness and understanding though, which makes her feel worse. Miaka can't bear how she feels, and sneaks away by herself while Tamahome is asleep. She falls into a crack in the rocks and passes out on the ground.
Amiboshi, who, unknown to anyone else, had been saved from the river by a couple in a small town, shows up and takes Miaka to safety. Meanwhile, Tamahome searches for her. Amiboshi treats Miaka's wounds and lets her stay in the house where he is living. He even saves her again, when she got sick from drinking too much medicine, by giving her some of his life force.
At first, he pretends to have lost his memories of the past, but later admits to Miaka that he remembered, but just wanted to be out of the way. He wanted the other Seiryuu seishi to think he was dead so they would leave him alone and they wouldn't be able to call Seiryuu anymore. He did this to stop the fighting because he had feelings for Miaka. Amiboshi tries to convince Miaka to stay in the village with him, but the village is attacked by Kouto soldiers, as Nakago had sensed Amiboshi's life force when he used it to save Miaka.
Amiboshi kills the soldiers, then senses that Tamahome is in danger and promises Miaka that he will go save him. He tells her to wait for him in the village. Miaka doesn't listen, instead choosing to go on.
Tamahome is almost killed when Tomo, of the Seiryuu seven creates the illusion that Soi is Miaka. Soi (as Miaka) seduces Tamahome, trying to get him to sleep with her so she can steal all his life force without him realizing it. At first, Tamahome is happy to go along, but he ends up stopping because he respects Miaka too much.
Tomo, angry that his plan was thwarted, decides to kill Tamahome himself instead. Amiboshi ends up saving him, and knocking Tomo to the ground. Miaka shows up, having found out from Soi that she really wasn't raped by Nakago, and sees Tomo get up, stab Tamahome, and throw him off a cliff. Tomo then traps Miaka in an illusion of her making where she is back in her world and happy. Miaka doesn't realize it because her mind wants to forget what she just saw. Tomo restrains Amiboshi as well, so he can't help Miaka. Tomo projects himself into the illusion and woos Miaka. He ends up trying to rape her, but Amiboshi frees himself and helps her break free of the illusion.
